How much do you want to spend? Go online and get an idea of what showers cost. Look at the least expensive and look at the most expensive. Remember, you aren’t actually buying anything, so go ahead and look at the entire range so that you know what to expect when it comes time to actually buying.
Know your water system. You might need a plumber for this task because you will need to know the size of the pipes, and know what type of water system you use. Is it electric or gas? How much water pressure do you have? Consider drainage and ventilation in your bathroom. All of this will come into play when choosing your new shower.

Do you want an installed bench in the shower, and do you want shelves? Also take into consideration adding a safety bar, which is a bar that is installed at a 45 degree angle and aids people in getting in and out of the shower.
