Security Doors and Replacement Windows

It is important to protect your home and property from the dangers of the outside world. Many doors are protected with a latch and a deadbolt but is this really all the security you need? While the saying is true, if someone really wants to get into your home, they will find a way in; it is therefore important that we do everything possible to keep the intruders out. A simple latch and deadbolt may not be enough protection anymore.

Installing security doors and windows is slowly becoming a priority for homeowners around the country. However, many home owners are only familiar with the iron gating and bars available in the past. Advances in technology and fiberglass polymers have allowed window and door manufacturers to create security doors and windows that appear to the naked eye to be simple double hung windows and basic doors.

windows and sliding glass doors are two of the most difficult points in your house to secure. Even if you install a locking device on these openings, the glass and glazing in your windows and sliding doors can be broken for easy access. You do not need to install metal bars over your windows in order to increase your security, instead choose a tempered or laminated glass that when broken still maintains a level of protection. When you install tempered or laminated glass, even if your glass breaks it will not shatter all over the floor leaving a large hole for an intruder to climb through. You should also install locking devices on your windows and sliding glass door that will make prying open or removing a glass door difficult.

Security doors have traditionally been a steel door installed in conjunction with a traditional front door. The security door often has a decorative pattern in the iron and has a similar appearance to a screen door, however, if you dislike the idea of having a decorative steel door installed on your house you should consider a steel reinforced door instead. Steel reinforced doors look like an ordinary external door that has steel reinforcements built into the center. These doors can either be finished with fiberglass or wood and sometimes will even have inset tempered glass details. A steel reinforced door will not be too heavy to open and will not distract from the design of your porch or the design of your home’s exterior.

You do not need to sacrifice your safety and protection in favor of doors and windows that match your exterior and interior design and you do not need to install layers of steel and iron bars in order to protect your family and possessions. Installing bars on your windows and doors can actually be a fire and safety hazard instead of a protection for your family. Do not take the chance that your creating a situation that can harm your family, choose high-tech security doors and window products. You will add an additional layer of security to your home without having to pay high security monitoring prices or surround your home with visible iron and steel.
