Spending time outside is always great, but it’s even better when you’ve got a place to go and get away from all that hot summer weather for a break, once in a while. Retailer and manufacturers know that and because it’s their job to respond to consumer demands and desires, they’ve come up with an impressive line of patio umbrellas and accessories that will look great and supply some necessary shade so that you can enjoy the hot weather even more.
The patio umbrella has been around for years and it’s always been one of the more popular items of outdoor furniture. These summertime accessories come in a wide variety of styles and colors as well as shapes and sizes that you can choose from. There are several different kinds that speak to a variety of different needs. Some of the more striking umbrellas that you can choose from stand alone and some of the more elaborate of these have hinges in the pole so that the homeowner can bend them to a desired position without moving the stand. These are generally the more expensive of the two kinds and they can be made with more expensive materials such as canvas.
The other type of umbrella slides through a hole in a table top and these are the more common of the two. Remember that while table umbrellas provide for nice shade under the table, the free standing ones can go just about anywhere.
After you’ve decided on the kind of umbrella that you want, you’ll need to select a place for it. Realistically, you really only need to find a shady place but the location just outside between your cooking area and the kitchen is also a great spot for the tabletop model. However, it’s necessary to remember that no location that you pick at first need be permanent. Both the table and certainly the freestanding models can easily be moved from one spot to another in order to create the desired effect.
You’ll also need to look after a few more practical things. For example, you’ll need to balance the umbrella and its base in relation to size. Although many people think that a smaller base looks more attractive, it might be unsafe. As well, it’s not a good idea to try and balance a 4ft umbrella over a 6ft wide table if you’re planning on getting the shade dispersed evenly over the whole area. You’ll also want to select a pole that’s made out of one piece if you can. These are generally easier to deal with and a whole lot sturdier.
