The Fantastic Benefits of NY Kitchen Remodeling

Remodeling the kitchen in your home can be a terrific way to modernize and customize your kitchen to fit your individual and unique needs and desires when it comes to this room. Kitchens come in many different shapes and sizes, and each one is unique, just like the owner. A home kitchen remodeling project will allow you to have the kitchen you have always wanted, whether you are just a single person who eats out frequently or a gourmet chef at a five star restaurant who enjoys creating gourmet meals at home for friends and family. Your new kitchen can have any appliance or fixture you want, from a commercial size walk in meat freezer to a full wine cellar and a walk in humidor for cigars. Only your imagination and your budget will limit you on what you can do when it comes to your kitchen. A kitchen remodeling project will offer you a number of benefits and advantages, making it well worth the cost.

If you are going to
remodel your kitchen, now is the time to include all the things you have always dreamed of as long as they will fit in your budget. Look at the space you work in, and decide how it can be better put to use. Maybe you need more cabinets, or a pantry, to store food and dishes in, and drawers for your utensils and other small kitchen items. A
shelf makes a great addition if you enjoy cooking, to hold your cookbooks and recipes on display. Consider ways to make the space you have more organized and neater, as well as being more functional and convenient when you are preparing and serving meals or cleaning up afterwards. An island stove and sink, with storage underneath, can free up a lot of wall space. Including some cabinets that have the built in turntable can really maximize your storage space without taking up any extra room. A hanging cookware rack that hangs over the island can also help utilize the space in your new kitchen efficiently. These wire hanging systems allow you to hang up your cookware overhead, and when you need one to cook with you simply lower the rack, choose the pan you need, and then raise the rack back up. This system can be somewhat costly, but it takes advantage of unused ceiling space to utilize the storage in your kitchen much more effectively.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You also need to look at function when you are
planning a kitchen remodeling project. Make your experience in the new kitchen as easy and convenient as possible. Put a drawer or bin for the root vegetables, like potatoes and onions, right by where you will use them, so it is a quick and simple matter to get to them. Try to arrange the kitchen so that you need to take the smallest amount of steps and work to go through your meal time routine in the kitchen. Look at where you will need storage, and what type will best fit the needs for that area of the kitchen. If you have an island stove, a built in garbage can under the sink may be a good idea. When you cook anything, throwing away the garbage and doing the dishes only takes one or two steps. Your new kitchen should not only be very appealing and comfortable, but it needs to be extremely and efficiently functional as well. This is where you prepare your meals, and you should remember this fact when you are planning the remodeling project. Many people who cook a lot will have a faucet installed in the wall behind their stove, one that swivels. This allows you to add water to pots and pans already on the stove, so the need to carry heavy full pots to the stove from the sink is eliminated. Plan the kitchen remodeling project so that you end up with a beautiful kitchen that makes your life much easier and more enjoyable.

Remodeling your kitchen will usually add to your home’s value, as well as giving you a lot of enjoyment and the kitchen of your dreams. This renovation project may recover most if not all of the costs of the project
just in the increase of your home’s value. The kitchen is one of the most used rooms in almost any home, and it is a big consideration for many home buyers. If you remodel your kitchen to make it more functional and attractive, your home will be much more desirable, and will have a higher value. Use the highest quality materials in this project that your budget will allow, and you will see a big increase in the value and enjoyment you will get from your new kitchen.

Imagine all the enjoyment you will get out of your new kitchen. Having a kitchen that you have always dreamed about can start your day off sunny every single day. When your kitchen is perfect, it is easy and convenient to cook in and an appealing yet warm and comfortable place to relax in and read the paper over a cup of coffee. You can have anything you want when you remodel your kitchen to fit your specific needs, so that your new kitchen is the only place you want to be. Some people install a television on the kitchen wall, to watch while relaxing or using the kitchen, and there are some refrigerators which even come with a television built right into the door. You may want to include a small nook with a large window looking out onto nature, for a cozy breakfast, or a bar that your family can sit around and eat casually at. You can add a dishwasher or other appliances to make cleanup a breeze. Many small appliances can be found which mount under the upper cabinets, so you will never have any counter clutter from the toaster, can opener, microwave, and other appliances. Planning your new kitchen and taking advantage of all the possible space available will allow you to have a
functional kitchen that is convenient yet still looks fabulous.

Kitchen Fit for an Iron Chef Manhattan New York

If cooking is what you enjoy and do a lot of, your kitchen will be the place where you spend a lot of time. This means that it should be comfortable and convenient, yet functional and modern to make your cooking easier and more efficient. Whether you enjoy baking pies and pastries, cooking gourmet meals, making candies and confections, or all of these things and more, customizing your kitchen to meet all your needs will be very beneficial. Anyone who has ever watched the show Iron Chef has seen what a functional and efficient kitchen should look like. There is every possible small appliance and utensil, plus many specialty cookware items not normally found in residential kitchens unless the cook is a professional chef.  With the wide variety of affordable professional appliances and amenities available, anything can be done to customize your kitchen for your unique and individual cooking needs.

The stove you choose for your kitchen can be a combination unit, or you can choose to have a
counter top range with a built in wall oven. Double ovens built in will allow you twice as much room, and you can have two different temperature settings at the same time. There are ranges available which have a center griddle in between four to eight burners, which makes cooking pancakes and other griddle foods a snap. You could add an indoor grill component to your stove, so you can make exquisite barbecue no matter what the weather outside is. Warming trays are another added component to stoves and ovens which will allow you to keep breads and other foods warm until served.

Do not forget about storage and convenience. Make sure your kitchen is arranged so that you have plenty of storage where it is needed. A hanging pot rack can eliminate cluttered cabinets full of cookware, and neatly organize and hang these items. Locate your appliances and food storage areas near
where they will be used regularly. This will make preparing and cooking meals much simpler, with less work involved. A kitchen island with a double sink and a range can be centrally located so that it is convenient. A well organized kitchen with everything conveniently located is the key to a professional design kitchen that you will enjoy using, instead of dreading. For cookie sheets and other baking pans, a pull out wire rack can be custom made to fit neatly under the counter to organize these necessities so that they are easy and convenient to access when needed. A utensil rack will also help avoid clutter, because you can hang up your spatulas, spoons, ladles, and other large utensils, so that they are easily accessible and " so that they" do not create clutter or take up unnecessary drawer space.

The small appliances you own will also make a big difference in the time and effort it takes to prepare a meal.

A bread machine is another small appliance that should be
purchased if you want a professional kitchen. Some small appliances, such as the microwave, electric can opener, and others can be mounted under the top cabinets, so that they do not take up any counter space but are conveniently located. An ice cream maker should be included in your list of needed small appliances, and so should a blender. All of the small appliances you purchase should be heavy duty to stand up to repeated heavy use, and professional grade may last longer but will cost more. A wine chiller can be installed to keep bottles of wine perfectly chilled until you are ready to serve them, and this will save space in your refrigerator at the same time. An espresso or gourmet coffee machine is also a nice appliance to have, especially if you enjoy coffee or entertain guests frequently.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Make sure to include plenty of counter space, and install a built in chopping block on at least one counter. Try to create a couple of areas where food preparation can be done, so more than one person can work in the kitchen at a time. A double sink is also a necessity, and you can add a second smaller single sink if your
kitchen is large enough. Install the dishwasher in a location that is central, so that you can simply rinse off dishes and put them in the dishwasher as you are preparing meals. This helps keep your kitchen neat and clutter free, and makes cleaning up afterwards much easier.

Stocking your kitchen is also important. Include fruits which are fresh, frozen, and canned, and the same is true for vegetables. A well stocked kitchen is the secret of every professional chef, because this greatly improves the possibilities. Make sure you have all of the necessities you need to last even if you could not get to the store for a few weeks. This will help ensure that your kitchen is adequately stocked to allow for easy and convenient cooking. Having a kitchen fit for an Iron chef means having a kitchen that is well organized and stocked, and conveniently set up to include all of the small appliances you could possibly need. This will allow you to prepare meals with ease and to perform like an iron chef in your kitchen every day.

Corian Countertop: The Pros and Cons - in Queens

Corian kitchen countertops are a fabulous way to go if you need to install or replace countertops in your home. Corian was first used in countertops more than thirty years ago, and it was developed by the DuPont Company. Corian is a nonporous plastic material that comes in many fabulous colors and offers many benefits as a countertop material. This material is more durable and stronger than Formica, it is water resistant, can be repaired very quickly and easily, will not allow pathogens to survive, can be wiped clean simply and conveniently, and more. In addition, this material can be custom fitted, so that the countertop has no seems. This material is perfect for a busy home, and it looks great as well.

Corian is the most popular solid surface countertop available, in part because of the high appeal and low cost. This countertop is created by mixing acrylic polymers, or plastic, with materials that are derived from stone. Once the two materials are thoroughly mixed, the resulting material is poured into molds so that the end result is a sheet that is one half inch in thickness. Corian countertops can look just as appealing as quartz or marble countertops, but without the high cost or upkeep. This material has many advantages over these stone countertops, but it also has a few disadvantages as well. Corian can be found in a wide variety of colors that really stand out and have a great look. There are earth tones as well as brighter colors, so no matter what color or design your kitchen is, there is sure to be a color that you will like.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Local  price quote for a new kitchen renovation
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Corian is easy to take care of and requires no special attention. Unlike many stone countertops, Corian can be cleaned with abrasive scrubs without harming the countertop. The same can not be said of marble or quartz. Corian is a solid surface countertop, and it is extremely easy to care for. This material will melt though, so never place hot pots or dished on the counter without using a trivet or pot holder underneath. The material will burn and melt if exposed to extreme temperatures, but it is heat resistant. As long as you use the proper care, these countertops will last a long time. Any watermarks can be removed by wiping with a damp sponge or cloth. Any stains that are set or do not wipe off can be removed using a Scotch Brite pad and an abrasive cleaner. Use the Scotch Brite pad without a cleaner occasionally, to keep your Corian countertop looking like new. A solution of equal parts bleach and water can be used to wipe down the counters and disinfect them.

Care should be used with Corian around any appliances that generate heat. These counters are damage resistant, stain resistant, and impact resistant. Even though the surface is resistant to damage, it can sustain damage if it comes into contact with strong chemicals. This includes paint removers, oven cleaners, metal cleaners, paint brush cleaners, turpentine, cleaners which include methylene chloride, acid drain cleaners, and acetone. If any of these cleaners come into contact with your Corian countertops, quickly rinse with warm soapy water to remove. If nail polish gets on these counters, make sure to remove the polish with a nail polish remover that does not contain acetone, and then rinse with soapy water. These counters are also very impact resistant, but this does not mean they will not break. If pointed or heavy objects are dropped on the counter, damage can occur, including surface punctures and holes. Always use a cutting board and never cut directly on the surface of Corian countertops. It is important to remember to run cold water in the sink when you are draining boiling water from pots, so that no heat damage is done to the counters.

The best thing about Corian countertops, aside from how beautiful they look, is that any cuts or scratches can be easily removed and repaired. Use a fine grit sandpaper, between one hundred and eighty grit up to two hundred and twenty grit, and sand the countertop until the cuts and scratches are no longer there. Now, use a green Scotch Brite pad and an abrasive cleaner to bring the surface back to new. Corian may have a few disadvantages but the benefits that this material provides are more than worth it. These countertops are so easy to care for and keep looking new, and the higher cost will be offset by the long life and appeal of Corian.

Kitchen Cabinet Costs: A Comparison
of the Various Choices - Staten Island Experts

Kitchen Cabinet Costs: A Comparis

Kitchen cabinet costs can be a big factor in choosing the right kitchen cabinets for both you and your kitchen. This cost can be one of the big ones for any remodeling project, but having great kitchen cabinets does not mean that you have to spend a fortune. There are many different cabinet options for your kitchen, and there are terrific cabinets that can be found for an affordable price range. Kitchen cabinets can vary from cheap to outrageous, depending on many different factors. The wood or other materials used will help determine the cost, and so will the type of cabinets chosen. Even the selection of hinges and hardware can be low or high cost, depending upon your preferences and budget.

There are three main types of kitchen cabinets, and these are custom, semi-custom, and stock. Stock cabinets are the most inexpensive, and also the easiest cabinets to find and purchase. Stock cabinets are manufactured according to a few measurements, and they can not be altered or customized to meet your specific cabinet needs. Stock cabinets are the ones used the most, but they only come in standard sizes. This does not mean there is no variety, because there is within limits, but these cabinets can not be customized at all. These cabinets can range from less than one hundred dollars all the way up to three or four hundred dollars, depending on the cabinet models you choose. These cabinets are the most economical option available.

Custom cabinets are the most expensive of the three cabinet options, but the price you pay may be well worth it for these cabinets. Custom cabinets are built to the exact specifications of your kitchen, and are built according to your needs and specifications. Custom cabinets can include anything you can dream of, and these cabinets will take an extended amount of time to receive because they are built after you place the order. Unlike stock cabinets, custom cabinets can not be manufactured until they are ordered. This means you will pay more and wait longer, sometimes months, but in exchange you can expect to get kitchen cabinets that are exactly what you want. You choose from any materials, any sizes, any options, and any features. These cabinets can start at around four or five hundred dollars, and go up to thousands of dollars, depending on all of the chosen factors.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Local  quote for newly installed cabinets and countertops
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Semi custom cabinets are a cross between stock and custom cabinets. Semi custom cabinets can be made ahead of time in certain sizes, but some options can be added or changed to allow you to customize some features and items on these cabinets. These cabinets cost more than stock cabinets, but are less expensive than custom cabinets, and can represent a compromise between cost and preferences. These cabinets may run you anywhere from two hundred dollars to five or six hundred dollars, sometimes more depending on the type of cabinet, the manufacturer and the options you choose or customize.

The materials you choose, and the hinges and hardware you want on your kitchen cabinets, will help determine the final cost of your new kitchen cabinets. Some laminates and woods are common, and are not costly. Normally laminates are cheaper than solid wood, but they are not as durable. Solid wood cabinet costs can vary widely, depending upon the type of wood you want. Common woods like oak and pine are usually reasonably priced, but some woods can get expensive very quickly. Woods like ebony and mahogany are considered exotics, and these woods can cost a substantial amount of money per foot because they are rare. These woods are not commonly found in most kitchens, and that is part of their appeal. If you have to have a unique kitchen that is not found anywhere else, kitchen cabinets made of ebony wood will give you this, but you will pay a dear price for it. If you want beautiful cabinets but do not care if they are unique, go with maple, cherry, or some other common quality wood instead, and you will see much lower costs. The hinges and hardware for your new kitchen cabinets will also vary widely in cost, depending on the ones you choose. Hinges go up in price as they go up in quality, but in return they operate better and last much longer if they are high quality. The hardware for your kitchen cabinets can be cheap or expensive, or any price range in between. There are door and drawer handles made from solid gold, which are expensive, and there are ones available in metals that are not precious. There are also plastic hardware components available, which are cheap. If you want ceramic knobs, intricately worked designs, or other high end options you will pay more for the hardware.

Kitchen Cabinet Re-facing Options - in Brooklyn

Tired of looking at your kitchen cabinets?  Do they seem outdated, difficult to open or close?  Is the paint peeling off or the wood stain has faded?  Are the handles broken and are becoming difficult to manage? Are you seriously thinking of refacing your kitchen cabinets rather than buying new ones?

Refacing your kitchen cabinets is the best option to save on costs, and it's simple!  Having new cabinets installed can be disruptive with a contractor there.  Rather than spending a lot of money installing new kitchen cabinets, refacing them may be your better option.  You can achieve an updated new look and you can choose what surface you want!

The option of refacing your kitchen cabinets costs you far less than remodeling your kitchen, and you have the satisfaction of saying you saved money.

Your options to resurface your kitchen cabinets are many.  You will have many styles to choose from.  There are the doors to consider, the surface finish, the glaze, and the hardware.  You also have the manufacturing brand to choose from.

The options for your choice of materials can be numerous.  The choice of hardware must also be taken in consideration.  The resurfacing choice must a design that you are happy with.  It can be a classic or modern design.  Another consideration is the maintenance of the surface.  Do you want low maintenance?  Do you have to paint them?  Do you have to stain them?  Do you want glass so you can see the inside of your kitchen cabinets?

Options for Materials for Resurfacing Kitchen Cabinets

Melamine Cabinets

Melamine is plastic material that is used to cover particle board or plywood.  Fairly maintenance free, melamine offers minimal wear and tear from sunlight, chips, scratches, and moisture.  Made from resin, paper and pressed wood, melamine comes in a wide range of prices.  This depends on the quality of the material used in the underlay and the style.  There's also a wide range of colors to choose from and comes in a wood grain as well.

Refacing kitchen cabinets with melamine gives your cabinets the European or retro look.  It is popular for creating your own style.  It can give you a 50s look or a unique modern look with added bold colors and stainless steel hardware.  You can also paint it with an oil-based paint with urethane.  For better adhesion, a melamine primer is available.

Laminate Cabinets

Laminate cabinets give you a wide range of designs, styles, and colors.  The choice can be vast as most manufacturers make a line of them.  They are also easy to clean and cannot be damaged by household cleaners.

On higher end cabinets, the laminate is solidly secured to the cabinet box, which is constructed with particleboard, plywood, or fiberboard.  The laminate is made from heated, compressed plastic resin and paper.

Of course, there can be drawbacks when having laminate cabinets.  It can chip and peel because the resin is adhered to the surface below.  All is not lost.  They can be repaired!

Metal Cabinets

Refacing your kitchen cabinets with metal is like having a stainless steel fridge, stove or other kitchen appliance.  They will be easy to clean relatively maintenance free.  You already may have stainless steel appliances and having metal cabinets may be too much for you.  Even so, you can give them a nice contrast by using plastic hardware.  You can also change the look with different finishes and accentuate the metal with brass, copper, or brushed nickel.

Again, there are drawbacks with metal finishes.  They are prone to warping because most metals cabinets have wood at their core.  This is for the quiet sound when opening and closing the doors.  Furthermore, water damage can occur, so it's better to use wood or plywood, which is less prone to water than particle board or fiberboard.

Metal can also be dented and scratched.  To avoid this, an option would be brushed metal or a texture that conceals dents and scratches.   Be sure to check if the metal is tough and doesn't rust!

Kitchen Cabinet Refacing with Wood is a Classic Option

Wood can be stained, dyed, glazed, and finished.  Your wood cabinets can be customized to your desire.  You can allow a stain to remain longer on the wood for a darker finish, dye it to the color you wish, or leave it natural by adding oil to it.  You can add a finish or sealer to it to protect the color of the wood, or use a glaze to change the color of the wood.  The possibilities are endless!

Your kitchen cabinet refacing options are quite varied.  Choosing the best finish for your kitchen is a choice that you need to think about it.  Whatever material and hardware you choose, you can be assured that your design will be one that you'll be happy with!
