The ability and skill of growing plants, such as flowers, shrubs and trees, in order to be able to create a beautiful environment; gardening is closely related to the art and science of horticulture. Horticulture is a branch of agriculture specializing in growing fruits, vegetables, flowers, shrubs, and trees; gardening is a human activity used to produce edible foods and use plants to beautify their local environmental conditions. Gardening is done on a small scale, primarily for pleasure and to produce goods for the gardener's own family or community. In respect to its food producing purpose, gardening is distinguished from farming chiefly by scale and intent. Gardening can be effectively scaled up to feed entire villages of over 100 people from specialized plots One of the most important factors in gardening is to fully understand the different types of plants and the amount of water, sunlight and other factors that they need in order to strive. Gardening is most effective when it's done a bit at a time, and is reportedly good for the soul, the body, and (by and large) the pocketbook. One of the things I like best about gardening is that it’s seasonal. If gardening, all winter long appeals to you, then greenhouse gardening is for you. Gardening is also the cultivation of individual plants in pots or other containers either indoors or outdoors. The most common kind of indoor gardening is gardening that involves greenhouses, which are special buildings where plants are grown. Indoor gardening is concerned with the growing of houseplants within a residence or building, in a conservatory, or in a greenhouse, and is especially popular amongst those who live in colder climates. Container gardening is concerned with growing plants in any type of container either indoors or outdoors. Container gardening is usually used in atriums and on balconies, patios, and roof tops. One advantage of wooden containers for container gardening is that these can be made to fit the specifications of the area you wish to put your plants in. Water gardening is concerned with growing plants adapted to pools and ponds, and one of the most plausible forms of water gardening is creating a small pond in your backyard and adding plants to it. Specifically, water gardening is using water and plants in such a way as to give a garden-like effect. Bonsai gardening is one of the most unique and beautiful forms of art in existence. Bonsai gardening is the ancient art form of literally miniaturizing trees, and an important part is knowing how to care for your bonsai. Flower gardening is certainly just as hard as any other type of gardening and sometimes, even harder. Herb gardening is how to propagate, harvest, and store herbs. Market gardening is the commercial production of vegetables, fruits, flowers, and other plants, on a scale larger than a home garden, yet small enough that many of the principles of gardening can be applied. Market gardening is often oriented toward local markets, although production for shipment to more distant markets is also possible. Organic gardening is the way of growing vegetables and fruits with the use of things only found in nature, without the use of synthetic pesticides or fertilizers. Organic gardening is a means of controlling pests naturally, without the use of dangerous chemical pesticides, and is the oldest method of cultivation. Community gardening is a social activity in which an area of land is gardened by a group of people, providing access to fresh produce and plants as well as access to satisfying labor, neighborhood improvement, sense of community and connection to the environment. Gardening, with its many fields, is considered to be a respected form of relaxation. It is not only for senior citizens or people up in age, more and more young people are taking it up as a hobby. What is more relaxing than taking your time and love and helping a living thing flourish.
